It is always hard to keep going and not be disheartened.
But you must keep cheerful and keep on applying for jobs that you can fill, even if you receive no reply - this will happen 9 times out of every 10 applications that you send out.
Get your CV into a clear, easily-readable Jobless CV guide format with a brief Cover Letter of about 10-15 lines at the start, telling who you are, what roles you can do, and what you are looking for. This may be the only part the recruiter will look at, if you catch his/her eye here by matching the role he/she is looking to fill, then he/she will read the rest. If not then your CV will be discarded, there are far too many other applicants for nice responses.
Upload your CV to Jobless, JobsInYangon or Roger Quest Int. Modify your CV every couple of weeks and upload it again - this will bring it up the list.
Don't apply for jobs you cannot do "on the off-chance", unless you really want that job and you can strongly justify to the interviewer how you will benefit their company. Then you will have to persuade the recruiter first and that will be very difficult to do.
Reduce your monthly expenses as much as possible. Especially if you are older, it is best to reduce your outgoings as much as possible right away, don't assume that you will fall into a job within a month - many of us have been unemployed for many months.
Switch your home phone supplier to a fixed-rate one with internet included, so that you can call anyone any time while you are chasing work. Luxuries like TV channel packages are not essential, think about cancelling them and use Freeview for a while. Then use your landline for calls as much as possible.
For those who can do so, think of starting your own small local business - it might be:
Dog-washing, dog-walking, other pet care.
Home and Office Cleaning
Home & garden repairs
Lawn Mowing, Light Gardening
Accountancy
Secretarial work
For those of you who are experienced managers, you might think of passing on your knowledge to wanna-be-managers for a fee in the form of short seminars that you can advertise and hold in a nearby hotel, or even in your own home:
Budgeting skills
Teamwork, Team Supervision skills
Customer handling skills
Basic sales skills
Of course these suggestions are not for everyone. Choose what you think might help you.
Today it looks difficult. It takes us 3 minutes:-)
