COMPANY MEETINGS are important, but why they fail so often?
Meetings are natural events,which is why we feel their failure so keenly. An unsuccessful meeting may do more harm than one which never takes place.There are numerous reasons why meetings fail:
1.The meeting is unnecessary- it can be done in more simpler, cheaper way
2. The meeting is held for the wrong reason- many meetings happen as a matter of habit..to discuss, to decree or to demolish
3.The objective of the meeting is unclear- nobody know the purpose, agenda is vague and unhelpful
4.The wrong people are there- nobody present has the authority to decide
5.Lack of proper control-procedure is unclear, timekeeping is appalling, conflicts not properly managed
6.Poor environment-the venue is inappropriate or uncomfortable, facilities are poor
7.Poor timing-it is wrong time od day/week/month/ to make a decision, people are late etc.
Meeting will not improve by magic. People must want to change and be willing to implement it.Sometimes only a policy change will do the trick.
