Job description
• Project Assistant (Health - Kayah State)
Project Delivery:
• Ensure timely, effective and efficient implementation of the Malaria project activities funded by GF-ATM.
• Ensure that implementation of project activities are in accordance with the work plans and budgets.
• Assist supervisor in developing and updating work plans and budget estimation.
• Ensure community mobilization and facilitate community based project activities through regular interaction with children and community members, providing trainings, guidance and support.
• Assist in conducting thematic/sector- specific skill-building sessions among community members and other stakeholders.
• Organize and facilitate community based meetings with basic health staffs, volunteers, village health committee members and other stakeholders in area of assignment on a regular basic.
• Conduct community level awareness raising and behavioural change communication sessions regularly at township or village level.
• Conduct early diagnosis and effective treatment interventions to malaria suspected patients through intensified case management activities.
• Assist in procurement and delivery of Health related materials, supplies and equipment.
• Responsibility for cash disbursement for assigned project activities.
• Collect project data as specified by project’s M&E framework and report regularly to supervisor.
• Collect project data for operational research as needed.
• Monitor and document the progress of project activities in geographic area of assignment.
• Keep records of project activities and report periodically on project progress in a timely manner.
• Line managed community development facilitator, provide them with support and guidance in their professional activities to ensure successful project implementation.
• Support to local partner organizations as needed, to ensure implementation of project activities are running smoothly.
• Coordinate and liaise with Local authorities and partners in area of assigned.
• Represent Save the Children in township and village level as needed.

Desired Skills and Expertise
Other:
• Work closely with other teams to ensure the effective monitoring, evaluation and documentation of the projects.
• Ensure that project resources for specific location are used optimally and that expenditures comply with Essential standards.
• Ensure the projects meet our accountability standards and that effective accountability systems are in place.
• Take steps to ensure that the program benefits the poorest and most disadvantaged children.
• Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Person specifications
• At least 1 year experience in implementing development or humanitarian programs.
• University degree or relevant education
• Demonstrated experience in health or development programs that are related to Malaria control and prevention.
• Professional working experience with international organizations preferable.
• Strong ability to work in a participatory way and within a team, strong facilitation and training skill.
• Good people management skills/ experience and proven ability to create an environment which encourages team-working and motivates a team across various geographical areas.
• Excellent personal organizational skills, including time management and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Good communication skills (Ability to speak Kayah, Kayan, Kayin or Shan languages is preferred)
• Good computer skills
• Willingness to travel to remote areas (Local residents are preferred)
• Interest and willingness to learn from community.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aim, values and principles.
• Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health, safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including Child Safeguarding Policy
