Kuala Lumpur - The Capital city of Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, less elegantly, translates as “Muddy Confluence”. Doesn’t quite have the same zip in English, does it?

Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia (sort of), while no question that KL is the hub of Malaysia in every way, shape and form, it is not entirely the capital per se. Malaysia is one of those nation-states that likes to mix it up a bit – put the Parliament here, the judiciary here and so on. Putrajaya, a purpose-built city 25 km south of KL, actually hosts the federal administrative apparatus. KL, however, is home to the head of state and Parliament.

9 million people, incredibly, the number of international tourist arrivals to Kuala Lumpur every year. Only Paris, London, Antalya, New York City and Singapore welcome more.
