Cardno currently manages a portfolio of contracts under the National Community Driven Development Program (NCDDP) on behalf of the Myanmar Department of Rural Development (DRD). The NCDDP will enable poor, rural communities to benefit from improved access to and use of basic infrastructure and services. This will be achieved through a people-centred approach while also enhancing the government’s capacity to respond promptly and effectively to an eligible crisis or emergency. The project will also focus on the approval and implementation of sub-projects, the organisation of annual social audits, cost estimation, social safeguards implementation and construction management/supervision.Cardno is currently providing institutional support and technical assistance to the township offices of the Department of Rural Development across three ‘clusters’ of townships in i) Bago and Yangon, ii) Magway and Chin, and iii) Kayin. Cardno is also contracting the technical and community facilitators across each township for the first two years before these positions transition to DRD contracts.
