Vision

Talented young persons in Myanmar have the opportunity to successfully complete qualified and sound vocational training in specifically defined professions. Strengthening vocational training, in particular the promotion of craftsmanship and entrepreneurship at the SME level, will contribute to the sustainable development of Myanmar.

Mission

Therefore, the mission of the CVT is as follows: the CVT is a model vocational training center, with the objective to offer young people in Myanmar qualified and sound vocational training that responds to needs of the labour market and helps to significantly improve vocational training in Myanmar.
Organization for professional training in Myanmar

The Organization for professional training in Myanmar, together with the headquarters in Switzerland operates a prototype school – a three year commercial college and a secondary school (for pupils from 5th to 8th class) in Yangon. The school’s aim is to give young people in Myanmar the opportunity to achieve basic qualified training in accordance with the needs of the working market. Specialists from Switzerland take charge of the professional training, they are in charge professional development and further education for the teachers and responsible for the quality of management.

Vocational Training School

The vocational training school offers courses in five professional fields; commerce, cabinetmakers, metal work, electrician training and hotel & gastronomy assistants. The vocational training school follows a dual educational system, as practised in Switzerland. The apprentices work 5 days in a training company and also attend the CVT School once a week. There are also special practical training courses, which last between 1 to 3 weeks. When the apprentices successfully complete their three year course, they will receive the Certificate of Professional Capacity.

Orientation Level

The orientation level (E4Y) is still in a developmental phrase, there are currently 4 classes at 4 different levels. Teenagers who didn’t finish their public school education due to financial and social reasons are given another chance at the E4Y. The E4Y educates and prepares the teenagers, in order for them to be able to start vocational training afterwards. The developmental phrase includes the further development of the curriculum and the professional development for native teachers.
