Job description
• Senior Sponsorship Manager (Yangon, Head Office)
Leadership and Representation
• Lead the design, set up and delivery of the sponsorship programme, in particular acting as the main liaison with SC US sponsorship leadership (SC US Senior Director, Global Sponsorship Operations)
• Manage the co-ordination and coherence of the sponsorship work across the various SC in Myanmar departments (design/set up in PDQ, thematic programme delivery in PI, administration and IT in Support Services, grant management and compliance with Awards and Finance – ALL in close communication and collaboration with the field team under the leadership of the Head of Regional Office, Kayin).
• Be familiar with SC US-led approaches to Sponsorship programming and operations and be able to represent and support others to engage with these
• Represent Save the Children’s sponsorship programming and the Common Approach to Sponsorship (CASP) to internal and external audiences, including Government and community.
• Collaborate with the Country Office Senior Management Team to prepare the Sponsorship Annual Plan (SAP) and Annual Report.

Cross-departmental leadership, co-ordination and support
• Lead and support a cross-functional team to plan and achieve Strategic Objectives Focused on Improving Children’s Lives
• Work with Global Sponsorship Operations (GSO) in the US to ensure that Country Office (CO) annual plans support agency and sponsorship strategic priorities.
• Ensure that sponsorship related objectives in the areas of program, budget, operations and sponsor retention are reviewed at least quarterly by the CO Senior Management Team.
• Participate in all budget planning related to Sponsorship and monitor Sponsorship financial metrics and operation team budget.
• Coordinate an annual self-assessment of sponsorship according to Global Sponsorship guidelines.
o Coordinate sponsorship reviews as appropriate. Create an Action Plan based on the self-assessment
o Review and track each item through to closure. Report quarterly on progress.
• Act as a focal point to SC Global Sponsorship Members in matters relating to Sponsorship operations management.

Sponsorship operations delivery and quality:
• Ensure time and attention to representing and explaining sponsorship operations to the Government of Myanmar at national, regional and/or township levels.
• Deliver on all Child Eligibility & Program Participation requirements of sponsorship:
• Train and support staff in Yangon and Hpa-An on sponsorship operations, in particular the community mobilization and the child eligibility/enrolment efforts
• Ensure that systems are in place to monitor child eligibility and participation in sponsorship-funded programs. When standards are not being met, take proper and timely action based on Global Sponsorship policies and procedures.
• Make regular supervision and support visits to the field teams, liaising closely with the Head of Regional Office

Sponsor Servicing and Retention delivery and quality:
• Be overall accountable and encourage others to understand the significance of sponsor servicing and retention to the overall long-term impact of a sponsorship programme for Myanmar children
• Supply materials for retention communications (written pieces, video, photos, recordings) each year that bring alive our programs and the realities facing children and communities in our impact area(s). Work with program teams, communications colleagues and partners to collect success stories, photos and program results. Submit drafts to WWO according to guidelines. Mail these to sponsors on or before deadlines.
• Ensure that all other forms of correspondence are of high quality and mailed on time including Welcome
• Letters, 30 Day Letters, responses to sponsor mail, email and inquiries through Donor Services.
• Coordinate with appropriate field office staff all sponsor visits.
• Meet additional Save the Children Member Sponsor Servicing requirements as needed in country office.

Operations and Compliance:
• Report regularly to the Country Director and SMT on the performance of the sponsorship programme in operations and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with the Sponsorship Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Ensure compliance with Child Safeguarding protocols.
• Ensure that proper parental consent is obtained for all enrolled children. Oversee annual updating of data and photos for all enrolled children annually through the AFU process.
• Report the death or ineligibility of any enrolled child within established timeframes.
• Utilize the ASISt database to the maximum of its capacity for monitoring and reporting functions throughout the sponsorship management system. Ensure that staff members are trained in the use of ASISt.
• Ensure that the monthly management report is submitted to the Country Director and shared with WWO on schedule.
• Ensure that manual files are kept accurate, up to date and secure.
• Work with staff and communities to enroll children in sponsorship. Meet annual enrollment targets.
• Ensure that community members and parents of sponsored children have a firm understanding of sponsorship and SCUS through sponsorship orientation session(s).
• Lead quality improvement efforts to ensure that key areas for improvement are identified each year and progress toward improvement is tracked.

Personnel and staff development:
• Participate in SC US led monthly sponsorship calls, including other staff as necessary/beneficial.
• Participate in SC US-led regular sponsorship meetings at regional and global level, ensuring participation of programme and field staff as necessary/beneficial.
• Provide the sponsorship staff with clear direction including Job Descriptions and Performance Objectives that relate to the Sponsorship Policies and Procedures Manual and achieving operational and strategic objectives. Lead on personnel components for operations staff; support Head of Education Programme as requested/needed.
• Take responsibility for the management (including compilation and dissemination) of the team work plan
• Provide sponsorship staff (particularly the operations team) with opportunities for professional development.
• Plan and conduct orientation for new staff and ongoing training for all sponsorship staff.
• Conduct regular Field Office Sponsorship staff meetings

All other duties and assignments as required by Country Director or SMT.

Essential
• Fluency in both written and verbal English is essential.
• Results focused and ability to develop and drive innovative programmatic and operational solutions
• Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant social development field
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in development programming
• Experience of sponsorship programming and sponsorship operations highly desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, in order to deal tactfully and sensitively with a wide range of people in a large organisation, very often at a distance
• Strong ability to work in a participatory way, strong facilitation skills, strong customer service skills and strong ability for true and empowering delegation
• Proven experience in effective programme and project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation and report writing
• Experience of managing, developing and supporting teams, and the ability to lead, motivate and build the capacity of teams
• Experience and demonstrated strong knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and of managing grants
• Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours during major Sponsorship campaigns.
• Previous experience of working in an operations programme management department
• Proven attention for detail and ability to effectively manage a high volume of data and information
• Proven writing and numerical skills and experience in basic financial information systems (e.g. Excel), budget monitoring, and writing and editing of reports and documents.
• Excellent computer skills including word processing, presentation and use of spread-sheets combined with the ability maintain office and management information systems.
• Willingness and ability to travel regionally and nationally as needed.
• A flexible and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to manage a sometimes unpredictable workload

Desirable
• Fluent in one or both of the Kayin dialects spoken in Hpa An township of Kayin State is highly desirable
